Simply Magical, a wee sanctuary. Perfect in every way! H&D 22.11.23
We had a fabulous time, lots of walks, saw a pod of porpoises in the bay below the cottage, two sea eagles over by Loch Croispol. The cottages looking terrific and are looking forward to visiting again next June. This morning whilst leaving we came across a magnificent stag just standing in the garden! Many thanks I & S,14.10.23
Thank you so much Richard and Tara. Wonderful and magical as always. We will be back as soon as we can. The cottage updates look lovely. L & M, 07.10.23
Our first visit to Ceannabeinne Cottage and what a wonderful week! Thank you for a cosy and comfortable stay. D & A, 30.09.23
We had a great week with a lot of sunshine. WE went swimming everyday and were lucky to see dolphins, an otter and a seal. Your position with this view is simply perfect and the cottage is so cosy and lovely. Thank you for a wonderful week. C & U 19.08.23
Another perfect week at Ceannabeinne ! The cottage is just as homely and perfect as last year – feels great to be back. We were so fortunate with the weather – a beach paradise. Thank your for an amazing stay ! K.M. 12.08.23
A wonderful cottage in the most spectacular position. We loved the beach, went swimming with our dog and explored all the various routes down to it. Sunsets by the Big Rockand the short walk out onto the Rispond peninsular. Faraid Head and the machine dunes were a highlight A take-away fish and chip supper from the Smoo Cave hotel is a must! It is well worth reading ‘Fir for Luck’ before visiting the Ceannabeinne clearance village. Fantastic holiday and would love to return. Thanks for letting us stay in your wonderful house with the best beach in Scotland! J.B 15.07.23
Thank you for a wonderful week here in Ceannabeinne – we just love it! Great walks and swimming. We even saw a Golden Eagle ! P & B, 08.07.23
Thank you for another fabulous week. We’ve had good weather, lots of walks, seals near the beach below and a family of stoats in the dunes at Balnakeil. We love the ongoing changes to the cottage, much appreciated! S.R 01.07.23
Our 28th visit to the cottage! Wonderful weather. We visited 10 of the local beaches, including Oldshoremore in Kinlochbervie. We enjoyed two visits to the Smoo Cave Hotel. Many thanks to Richard, Tara and Hazel. Back in August/September 2004! C.L.24.06.23
Our 4th visit and we fall in love a little bit more each time. The cottage improvements are much appreciated although I can’t say we spent much time indoors as the weather was kind to us! Fabulous walks and of course multiple visits to ‘our beach’, plus the Kyle of Durness and couple of welcome walks to and from the Smoo Cave hotel for the lovely food and friendly atmosphere. Looking forward to returning in 2024! N.L 10.06.23
Our 4th visit to this beautiful cottage, and the first time we have been lucky enough to stay for two weeks. Also the first time we’ve made it to the secret beach. The cottage has been as warm and welcoming as ever. Pictures just don’t do this neck of the world justice. We half want to tell everyone we know to visit, but half want to keep it for ourselves. We love it just as much as we did on our first time a decade ago! G & A. 15.04.23
Despite being stuck in a snowdrift and in Arctic conditions most of the week, the Far North draws us back year after year! We brought plenty of books but were able to get out after a few days. Lovely cosy cottage and a beautiful part of the country. Many thanks, Richard, Tara and Hazel. P.T. 18.03.23
Lovely to be back again, it’s becoming a bit of a habit!Everything has just been fantastic, but the icing on the cake has been how lucky we have been with the weather once again.we started off with a a couple of nights with great displays of the Northern Lights, and then lots of super sunny walking days. the last week has been amazing with lots of snow. It has been fantastic to be in so much snow, making the long journey from the south west corner Wales even more worth it. Thanks to Richard and Tara for sharing their wonberfulget-away with us all, and of course Hazel for her excellent housekeeping. looking forward to our next visit! J. L. 11.03.23
We have had the most relaxing time. The cottage is perfect and so cosy. Lovely walks and it was amazing to do The Ceannabeinne Trail having read ‘Fir for Luck’ S. M. 21.03.23
What a week – mild and calm at the beginning of the week, but by the end of the week, Storm ‘Otto’ hit us during the night, rattling everything. However it did provide us with superb photo opportunities, rainbows, and moody skies. Glad we’ve met Hazel the housekeeper – lovely lady- who brought us up-to-speed on all the local news. Sad to be leaving, but we know we will return! F.C. 18.02.23
I was so excited to visit the old schoolhouse of the Ceannabeinne Township, a key setting in my book, Fir For Luck. “The waves in the distance roll in like a heartbeat, steady and strong”. The story came alive to me all over again. Thank you so much Richard and Tara for a wonderful stay. Barbara Henderson 11.02.23
Our new favourite Scottish getaway! Liked it so much that we will be back for Christmas! Best beach in the UK by a mile, just so much to explore at every state of the tide and a photographers dream. Not sure why it has taken us so long to discover this place.. Fingers crossed for Northern Lights next time … a reason to return as if any more was needed! J.A 04.02.03
Here again, our 6th visit! With snow lying right down by the beach, we were happy to stay here and not venture further than the village shop. Our dog enjoyed playing on the beach and on our last day we headed up to the top of Ceannabeinne…its an amazing viewpoint. Another really enjoyable week and we really hope to return soon. T.H 21.01.23
We have lost count of the number of times that we have been here, and love it every time! We enjoyed the Old School House Restaurant and the new Quay House Restaurant in Kinlochbervie. We are looking forward to our next visit in March, and hope the weather will be as good! P.T . 03.12.22
Our third visit – and the best to date! So pleased we came ‘off season’ as we have appreciated the solitude. The changeable weather really makes you appreciate the cosyness and comfort of the cottage. Even on the greyest days, the colours of the beach are stunning – we can’t wait to return. Our dog turns into a puppy every time her paws touch the beach! And the lower AGA setting is perfect for slow cooking!. N.L 19.11.22
Stunning cottage that has everything you need, and more. Amazing views. Weather was kind to us, but it was too cold for a swim. Hopefully next time! A.T. 12.11.22
We saw Ceannabeinne on the internet, and finally this year we arrived! And we were not disappointed! We happily stayed here for two weeks, such a fine and splendid place! We had such a good time in your beautiful cottage. And.. sharp knives and very good pots and pans, so rare in a self catering cottage! The views, passing boats, starry nights and the ever changing sea. So relaxing. Thanks very much for a wonderful time. H. K 05.11.22

A superb, relaxing week. Very many thanks. P.T 10.09.22
One week is not enough!! We all went up Ben Ceannabeinne yesterday to beat the ‘last day blues’. We loved all of your improvements, the living room looks fantastic now with the new wall finishes. We will have to make it two weeks next year!. S.L 03.09.22
First of all we would like to thank your hospitality and our great stay here. We congratulate you on your outstanding and really splendid cottage which is very tasteful in style and highly ergonomically equipped and organised. You can truly recognise the handwriting of the owner who did it. We love the woodwork which is a pleasure to look at. The location of your cottage and the views are simply amazing. N & M 27.08.22 (Germany)
Another most beautiful week here, full of swimming, nature watching, walking and just appreciating this amazing place. Hopefully we will return next year. M.C 30.07.22
Wow, what an incredible week we have had. Ceannabeinne has 100% captured our hearts. We came here after reading about the Ceannabeinne clearances in Barbara Henderson’s book ‘Fir For Luck’. We have been in the sea every day and explored along the coast. The cottage is simply fabulous – so many generous wee thoughtful additions – the best hospitality we have ever had whilst self catering. Thank you. Thank you! Looking forward to returning in 2023! D.M 23.07.22
A quiet week spent walking on the beached enjoying the beautiful views. Cottage was lovely – thank you ! S & J. 16.02.22
Another wonderful week in this lovely cottage. Thanks Richard and Tara. We had some lovely walks, and saw a Golden Eagle near Loch Hope, and a Sea Eagle while walking at Reiff. P&B, 09.07.22
The cottage is brilliant -very comfortable and in the prime location to get out and see what this part of the world has to offer. We had a wonderful week exploring the coast here and climbing u Ben Hope. having a warm cottage to come back to was a useful tool in inspiring us to get out and into the sea. (the dog especially loved the AGA!). Overall, we had an incredible week and a wonderful place to stay. Great place to re-charge, re-connect and let go of routines. Loved getting up and just planning the day!. Thank you for a very special place. R & H. C. 02.07.22
Lovely house, wonderful area, beautiful walks, lots of seabirds, also Puffins and diving Gannets. F. A 18.06.22

Our 27th visit to the cottage! Visited Ceannabeinne Beach, the Secret Beach, Sango Beg and Balnakeil, as well as walking to Farraid Head and the Balnakeil peninsular. C.L. 28.05.22

This has been our 13th visit – we first came in August 1995. Its five years since our last visit with our lovely sadly departed dog. He loved to stand with his paws on the half door gazing out. He thought this to be the best place in the world! We ourselves have had the opportunity to visit many wonderful places across the world, but this is the place that we have always returned to ! J & P, 10.06.21
What a wonderful time of year to be here – cuckoos awaking us at 4am and even caught them on camera! Sand Martins at Faraid Head were magical but no sightings of Puffins. Flora was incredible with Mountain Avars on the Kyle walk, Orchids on the hillside above the cottage and an otter crossed the road in front of us on the way to Durness. Looking forward to our return next Spring. F C & T W, 29.05.21
Wonderful, unexpected extra week at the cottage, and our 25th visit! Found a new walk South of Laxford Bridge. Enjoyed Smoo Cave Hotel and Cocoa Mountain. Back again at the end of August. Many thanks for the eggs, wine and other goodies when we arrived. C & J L, 15.05.21.
Our first but hopefully not our last visit to Ceannabeinne. After lockdown, it was such a delight to get away at all, but we did not know what to expect here. In the event, its been a delightful experience all round. The cottage is very user friendly, the scenery and views are stunning, and we had cold, breezy but mostly sunny weather to enjoy walking, cycling and photography. The view from the kitchen window is just wonderful and we felt at home. Enough said! A& G M 08.05.21
A wonderful week away enjoying the far north. So grateful to have this cottage whilst the rest of the country locks down. That beach – that view – Perfect. A.B 31.10.20

Cosy and warm. Fantastic constantly changing views from every window and 4 seasons in 10 minutes. Hail, sleet, rain, BIG winds. Plenty of bird life in the marches at Balnakeil – only problem was Cocoa Mountain was closed for the winter! No hot choc to keep us going!! F & T 07.03.20

Home now, but we still feel the benefits of Ceannabeinne. Those waves have lovely sounds, and get into your subconscious. Thank you for having the vision and energy to create Norsehaven, without which Sutherland would not be such a second home to us. That is where our inner compass settles when we think of a holiday now!” G.L. 28.10.15
What an amazing time we had at Ceannabeinne Cottage. I loved every second. Not only because the cottage was so comfortable, the chairs, the beds, simply everything, but what made it extra special was witnessing the aurora on three nights. Seriously, where credit is due, if all of your holiday cottages are of the same standard, which I am pretty sure they are, then hats off to you! We go to Scotland three times a year, and love trying different cottages. E.N. 23.08.15
